There are a number of reasons why teens become sexually active.
Regardless of what causes someone to have sex, everyone has the power to make a new start!

Past: You can't do anything about yesterday.

Present: You can do EVERYTHING about today.

Future: You can prepare for what you will do tomorrow.

Make a commitment - list your reasons to change and be willing to stick to your decision.

Once you've made the decision - communicate with friends and family who will support you!

Set physical boundaries BEFORE you are emotionally involved.   1. Be clear about your limits BEFORE you find yourself       in a PHYSICAL situation.   2. STAY AWAY from Alcohol & Drugs - think straight "KNOW YOUR OPTIONS & KNOW YOUR CONSEQUENCES"

Resisting Pressures
3 ways to clearly resist pressure using both words and actions.

Unscramble the Key Words

#1) SAPKE PU = answer
You must actually say NO. Often a person is thinking "NO" but it is important to actually say it. People who care about you will listen to what you say and respect it.

#2) DANTS PU = answer
If speaking up doesn't work, you must take action. You must actually stand up and be clear that you will not be involved in the behavior you are being pressured to do.

#3) KALW YAWA = answer
If the pressure continues after you speak up and stand up, you must leave. Do not continue to reason with the person at this time. You can talk about it at a later date. You must walk away.

 

Many Teens who have been sexually active didn't want to be.

If someone has been abused or pressured into having sex, the choice to be abstinent has been taken away from them. But it is still possible to choose abstinence regardless of what has happened in the past.

The ability to follow your OWN rules you set for yourself to succeed in life. It's a sign of maturing, responsibility & respect.
